Minimum Lot Size
The variance that a builder requested against the Minimum lot size at 2601 Baylor in East Sunset Heights has been denied.  You can read a complete article about what happened at the Chronicle website.Chronicle story.
Park Activities
Second Saturdays at Halbert Park have started up again now that Spring is here.  The next one will be April 11th.  Come on out between 10 and 11 am and enjoy coffee and snacks.  Optionally show your green thumb and help maintain the flower bed and clean up the park.  Hope to see you there.
Restaurant Review of the Month
You may have driven by Vietnam Restaurant on W 19th Street before without even noticing it.  It's not trendy or flashy.  This casual neighborhood BYOB is focused on the food and the service.  They can get busy, so if you don't want to wait for a table call for take-out.  We recommend dining family style; the portions are generous and you get to taste a variety of dishes.
Everything we ordered was the right temperature with rich flavors; nothing was sugary sweet or "burn off your tastebuds" hot.  The Imperial Rolls came with lettuce and fresh herbs for wrapping up the rolls. The Vietnam Beef was surprisingly tender.  The lightly battered Black Pepper Chicken had jalepenos on the side for a spicy kick when you wanted it. The String Beans were a garlic lover's dream.  The Wonton Soup had big, meaty wontons with identifiable chunks of shrimp.
For more information you can visit their web site:
Trash
Trash CanRecycle days for April are the 14th and the 28th.  Big trash is the 21st.
Crime
Along with reporting crimes to HPD, please also send an email to the civic club.  This will allow us to notify other residents in a more timely manner when a series of crimes happen.
There has been interest in starting a neighborhood watch, but we will need more participation including more block captions to do this.  HPD does not recommend that people drive around (citizen patrols) due to safety concerns. They do recommend implementing neighborhood watch procedures for taking in and getting out information about crime.  Read about how to do a neighborhood watch via this link, note that to get more signs we should be able to demonstrate that we have an active watch.
Did you know that we already have some old neighborhood watch signs?  We have identified four existing signs in the area borderd by E 20th and N Loop 610, Yale and N Main.  Do you know of any more?
