month PIP meeting's speaker with be Sgt. Patrick Plourde from the
mental Health Unit. He will be talking about a new program that deals
with the mentally ill.
The
civic club received a purchase order number last week, this enables us
to be reimbursed the amount of the matching grant by the City of
Houston once the Halbert Park improvements project to resurface the
tennis court is completed.
The PVC drain pipes around the
basketball court were covered over with dirt! The ground slopes up to
the level of the court now. Thanks City of Houston Parks and
Recreation Department!
We still hope to spread mulch in
February, which is fast approaching, please send us your email if you
are not on the Halbert Park volunteer list and want to help with the
spreading of mulch.
Restaurant Review of the Month
Instead
of a review this month, we're including links to charities that are
working to help the victims of the earth quake in Haiti. Next month
we'll make it up with a double review...
3. Just come by the monthly meeting and do it in person.
One
question that comes up frequently is whether or not we are non-profit.
The civic club is a 501(c)(4) organization. That means the civic club
is a non-profit and tax exempt, but donations to the civic club are not
tax deductible.
